ST. STEPHEN'S BLUES  | BIO
St. Stephen's Blues was formed in 1991 by Robbie Stokes to explore another side of Classic Rock, the San Francisco sound Stokes was immersed in as a young guitarist from Carbondale's 'Devil's Kitchen' band (visit: www.wolfgangsvault.com for Devil's Kitchen posters and to hear their music on 'Vault Radio'). Stokes worked with the Grateful Dead, Norman Greenbaum (the 'Spirit in the Sky' man). Quicksilver Messenger Service, Blues greats 'Lightnln' Hopkins' and 'Big Mama Thornton', and went on to form many other bands including the still very active '4 on the Floor'. The current line-up also boasts long-time drummer Charlie Morrill, Chicago native and independent artist Toney Ventura, crackerjack bassist James Layman (also of the Ivas John Band), and keyboardist Christopher Miller. |
